Grand Master Tanaka was born in Fukuoka prefecture in 1940. He started practice martial arts when he was very little. He has been training Judo, Jukendo, Sword, Karate(Wado Ryu and Kyokushin Karate), and Chinese Kung Fu. With All these experiences in those different martial arts, he bombined them all and created his own style which is now known as Hiko Ryu Taijutsu.
In 1980s he joined the Afghan volunteer army and fought in Afghan against Red Russia which were invading Afghanistan. In the guerilla's camp base, he worn a white Karate-gi and taught Taijutsu to the guerillas. The World Journalist gave him a nickname "Afghan Samarai" because of his fighting ability and spirit. In 2008 he left Fuji Ryu Taijutsu and founded Hiko Ryu Taijutsu.
